21 E 2nd St.
We’ll begin the Marsh Walk with an introduction to marshes and estuaries in the Museum’s lecture hall and then head out to the east end tidal marsh on Ocean Isle Beach. From there, we’ll walk along the marsh edge, discussing the delineation of the plant life to the water’s edge. Then we’ll hop over to the sandy shore and mudflats to discuss the importance of oysters and other shellfish to the estuary. Please bring bug spray and sunscreen as well as shoes that may get muddy or wet. In case of rain or adverse weather, this program will be modified and conducted in the lecture hall.
